    1. Not clay, but what I personally do on the transition is “feel” like I am turning my back foot (right foot for a righty) anti-clockwise to uncoil all the tension I have created in the backswing. Where the backswing generated a coil by “feeling” like my back foot turned clockwise.

      Just from trying to “feel” what you describe, I find that I would automatically stand up, as he advised not to in this video, if I simply pushed off of the back foot. I find the “feel” of turn really plays into the hip turn he talks about.

  1. Mr Ballard, you are a witch…..or you have ESP. You have done more for my game with your tips and drills than some lessons I took in Houston. You seem to have a video for just about all the “bad actors” in the swing. A wealth of knowledge!
    I have a 12 handicap and looking to get in the single digits. Thank you for your efforts….

  2. This is great to work on hip rotation. 2 more weeks until I can swing my driver due to knee surgery. I can do this drill. After I’m released to actually train again, I’m taking lessons from a pro. Do you know a good instructor in the San Francisco Bay Area ? Personally, I wish I could take lessons from you.
