Leupold GX-4ia2 Rangefinder

Leupold GX-4i2 Rangefinder ReviewThe Leupold GX-4ia2 rangefinder packs a ton of technology into a compact, lightweight device.

True Golf Range (TGR) compensates for the slope to suggest the correct club for the corrected distance. This feature can be disabled by replacing the yellow Smart Key faceplate with the included chrome faceplate to allow the rangefinder to be used in tournament play according to local rules. This disables slope compensation but you still get Line of Sight (LOS) range of up to 700 yards and up to 450 yards to the flagstick.

TGR provides club selection based on personal factors that you enter when you set up your unit. The more accurately that you enter your info, the better the club recommendations will be during play.

Faster and more accurate measurements are accomplished with the Digital eNhanced Accuracy (DNA) feature. The rangefinder is accurate up to 1/10th of a yard.

The GX-4ia2 is a rugged, weatherproof device designed with the golfer in mind.

This unit comes with a cloth case and (1) CR2 lithium battery.

Frequently Asked Questions for the GX-4ia2

What does “LOS” mean when it’s on the screen? It is simply an indication that the rangefinder is providing a “Line Of Sight” distance, not a compensated distance.

Can this unit be user re-calibrated? No, that is not a supported option. If you want to make sure it is working correctly, the best thing to do is to turn it on to Line of Sight (LOS) mode and use it to measure a known distance to see if it gives you the correct yardage. Do not do this in TGR mode, as this mode will alter the numbers based on your incline, and programmed altitude and temperature.

Can I program my fairway woods or wedges in this unit? The GX-4i2 is designed for iron recommendations only. Users are not able to add various wedges to the selection.

Does this unit compensate for the slope? The GX4i2 will give you a club recommendation based on the distance to the pin using TGR True Golf Range. This takes into account the angle compensated range to the pin and the information manually entered at the time of set-up. You will need to input the temperature, altitude and stroke length with each club.

Will the GX-4i2 compensate for someone with shaky hands? The Prism Lock Technology found in the GX-4i2 rangefinder can help a great deal when dealing with shaky hands. By using scan mode, the rangefinder will give you an audible tone when it locks on a prism. More and more courses are are using flagsticks with built-in prisms.
