    1. Your swing should never change. Just slight variances on your ball placement with each club. I line up my hybrids more centered like my irons and fairway woods just  slightly behind the driver.

  1. Rip a 3wood the other day from the left rough, 220 into the wind, soft draw over a greenside bunker, landed on the green and rolled up next to the hole. Best feeling ever!

  2. Love these videos Clay. It’s improved my game from hack, to decent golfer who can enjoy the game so much more. From shooting always 100+ to legit no mulligans, 85-90 and getting better. Thanks!

  3. Hey Clay, which Ping G410 3w model do you have and why that one? Thanks for the video,I’m guilty of hitting level or up with 3w , I’ll give this a try.

    1. I think it’s the LST version. That’s what I was fitted for. If you want to know what works best for you then you have to get fitted.

  4. Yo Clay Ballard! I’m so damn mad @U right now @0530hrs in Tucson, AZ. I view all your videos, &actually pay close attention, as I have my breakfast. In yesterday’s video, U preached on hitting the Pitching Wedge as hard as U can swing the damn club. Like an idiot, I tried it & had the most God awful round, by swing my irons fast & hard towards the ball… YOU now owe me Green Fees Clay, Goddammitt!

  5. 7-handicap, usually hit my 3-wood 225 with a little fade. First game of the year a few days ago. I had to apologize to the guys on the green 275 yards ahead as I rolled my 3-wood up to where they were putting. They were cool with it, complimented me on the shot. New M4 replaced the old RBZ … think I’m gonna like this new club. Hit it just as far on the back nine, so not a fluke!

    1. Thanks! You can do that. You’ll hit the ball further with less spin if you tee it a little higher and play it a little forward almost like you’d hit your driver. You can hit it a little shorter with more spin if you play it just like we talk about in the video but just use the tee to give yourself a perfect lie. I use both methods depending on what I’m trying to do. If I’m trying to launch my 3 wood as far as possible then I’ll hit it similar to the way I hit my driver. If I’m trying to take a little off and add some stopping power then I’ll tee it low and hit down on it. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

  6. One other comment. I watch various Golf “teachers” on Youtube and just last night I saw a video where the guy (who will remain nameless) was saying to “sweep” the ball with your 3W to get your best distance with it and to not take a divot. Which is the opposite of what Clay was saying above. I understand that different teachers each have their own philosophy when it comes to this silly game but when I see two that teach the exact opposite from each other obviously it is very confusing to a hacker like me. The trick, of course, is to figure out which teacher is the best option for helping the game that I currently have. And figuring that out is kind of difficult for someone like me. But as far as I am concerned right now Clay Ballard is the best golf “teacher” on Youtube these days. And if it comes down to a choice between him and someone who teaches the opposite……well I know which way I am going to go.
