Amazing Tips On How To Improve Your Golf Game

Golf can be an intimidating sport to take up if you don’t know what you’re doing, but it isn’t impossible to master. There is no denying that there is a certain art to it, but this article discusses that art in the form of tips that you need to know, in order to excel at this very popular game.

A helpful tip when it comes to golf is that if you are trying to keep your shots from arching too high, you want to make sure that your follow through swing ends up with your hands close to your body. This will give you more distance and a more predictable shot.

One of the first things you need to learn about golf is proper club grip. One common mistake is thinking that gripping the club harder will cause the ball to be hit further. Instead, the club should be held loosely in the fingers. Hold the club like you would hurt a hamster, strong enough to hold it, light enough that you won’t crush it.

When swinging the golf club, watch your left knee. Does it collapse toward the right knee? This is a common beginner mistake that affects balance. Try imagining your left knee going toward the target on the back swing. If you have trouble with that, imagine holding a basketball between your legs while you swing.

During your back swing, try imagining your right hand in a hitchhiker position. To check this, look at your right hand when the club is at waist height- you should see your thumb pointing upward. Another tip is to imagine your hand in a handshake position, with the palm perpendicular to the ground.

When starting out, the best instructions to learn are to just do what feels comfortable. Concentrate on hitting the ball, do not worry so much where it goes, just consistently hit the ball. Once you can consistently hit the ball with nearly every swing, then go to a PGA certified instructor or to a friend who is a fairly good golf player.

Keep your eye on the ball! This is repeated in every sport, but is also true in golf. When swinging, keep your head down and look at the ball, and follow its motion as you finish your swing. This helps line up your body in the right position for straighter shots.

Stand with the ball about 3-5 feet in front of you, and keep your eyes on the spot where you intend to place the ball. Take a moment to check the wind direction and other weather-related factors. This is the time you will need for weighing your shot options, determining your alignment and locking on your target. Once you are in position to take a shot at the ball, you will be more precise in your directing of the ball.

Here is a golf tip! Scooping the ball is caused by hitting up on the ball instead of down on the ball. This causes the club to pass the hands before actually hitting the ball, resulting either way in a bad shot. Focus on hitting down on the ball, keep your body level, and let your swing take over.

When you step up to address the ball, imagine the exact location where you want it to land. Visualization can help you get the ball where you want it to go. Once you have a clear picture in your mind’s eye, step up, assume your stance and address the ball.

One thing that holds women back as golfers, is the fact that they are multi-taskers by nature and by demand. Because women are so used to having to think of a million things at once, it is very difficult for them to attain the singleness of purpose needed for successful golf. Taking up yoga and meditation may help a woman attain a state of quiet mind that will improve her golf game.

Now that you have the know-how to become the next great golf pro, playing your 18 holes will be a brand new experience that you can enjoy with the same old friends. Make sure to tee off soon and show everyone your elevated prowess on the green, by making your next hole in one.
